Starting out as an acoustic outfit, Rooted N Booted first formed in 2012 with George 'Junior G' Sutton running the mic and Beth Black holding it steady on guitar. After meeting drummer Sam 'Maxsteady' Maxted at the tender age of 15, the time was right to form a full band. Things took a difficult turn when Beth found herself battling with Multiple Sclerosis. Her perseverance is to be massively admired, but sadly, after many years of dedication, Beth made the hard but honourable decision to take a step back and let the show continue without her. (We are eternally grateful to Beth, you can support her new projects here. Big love from the band x)

After many changes to the lineup - and a mad few years of ups and downs and hard lessons learnt - the band has finally settled. Junior remains the mad man on the mic and Maxsteady on drums, with the addition of JP Jones on bass and Lewisia on guitar.

Despite the changes, the band's sound has always remained as versatile and heavy as ever and has been dubbed the "new sound of Coventry". Mixing reggae, ska, dub, punk, jungle and DnB to create an original authentic sound, Junior's conscious, political hard left lyrics add the edge that makes Rooted N Booted relevant in today's chaotic society.

It is with this sound that the band has shared many a stage with some true musical icons - Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Mykal Rose of Black Uhuru, Makka B, The Beat, The Selecter, Ken Boothe, Dandy Livingstone, Bunny 'Striker' Lee, The Skints, Fun Lovin' Criminals, Bad Manners, Basil Gabbidon of Steel Pulse, The Dualers, Vivian Jones, Stranger Cole, Mr Symarip, Susan Cadogan, Dennis Alcapone, The Neville Staples Band, Dave & Ansell Collins, Dennis Bovell, The Toasters, The Paragons, Winston Reedy - the list really does go on.

As of 2018, Rooted N Booted have been working on a number of singles, one of which being a remix of The Specials' "Ghost Town", and a consequential tour - you can keep updated through their social media links below.
